Embedded Platform for the Automotive Area

Thema: New products

Universal Embedded Platform for the Automotive AreaIXXAT will present it’s new universal Embedded Platform on the Embedded World fair in Nuremberg. This platform is intended for customers who like to start the development of specific application software for the automotive area fast, but do not have the target hardware available.

The hardware supports a temperature range between -20 °C and +70 °C, is based on a powerful ARM9 microcontroller and provides many interfaces for the connection to all important automotive bus systems. Available interfaces are among others: FlexRay, 4 x CAN, 2 x LIN and K-Line. In addition, further RS-232 interfaces for the connection of external peripheral devices are available, as well as digital and analog I/Os.
The chosen hardware architecture provides a high data throughput for all interfaces without claiming to much microcontroller computing time. Time stamps with an accuracy of 1 µs can be assigned to the messages on all automotive bus system interfaces. This also applies for the analog and digital I/Os.

In addition, the Embedded Platform offers a 10/100Base-T Ethernet interface, two USB 2.0 interfaces (host and device), an audio interface and a CF-memory slot.
On request, the Embedded Platform can be delivered with a LCD color touch screen with 800×480 pixels.

As an option, a power-down support is offered. In deep-sleep-mode the Embedded Hardware has a power consumption of only 10 mW. It is possible to receive the first message after activation of the car on any port in sleep-mode.

One major advantage of the Embedded Hardware Platform developed by IXXAT is the software package included in the scope of delivery. This enables the customer to start directly with the development of his application, without taking care about buying or developing drivers and protocols for the interfaces. So the prototype development and therewith the time-to-market can be significantly reduced.

The scope of delivery includes the operating system Windows CE, the board support package, all necessary drivers for the various interfaces and bus systems, many measurement and transportation protocols (TP2.0, ISO 15765-2, ISO 14230-2, KWP2000, UDS, CCP/XCP and others) and further modules for message filtering, recording and bus signal extraction are. For the customer specific application design only a Microsoft Visual Studio license is needed. As an option, support for the operating systems Linux and QNX is in preparation.

The Embedded Platform is offered by IXXAT also in customer specific form factors and housings. Furthermore, IXXAT offers the software development for it’s customers on request.
