CAN - Controller Area Network

Interface Boards, Analyzing Tools and Protocol Software

The range of CAN products offered by IXXAT can be divided into four parts:

Interface Boards for CAN Link

With a wide selection of CAN interfaces for PCI, USB, Ethernet, Bluetooth and ISA systems, IXXAT offers suitable solutions for all application areas. The interfaces can be used in combination with the IXXAT tools or with customer specific applications for CAN and CANopen. Customer specific applications can be set-up fast and easy based on the free VCI driver or on the CANopen Master API.

canAnalyser Link

The IXXAT canAnalyser enables easy analysis and service of Controller Area Network systems. Besides comprehensive transmit and recording functions, the analyser allows the data interpretation and displays the received signals as line diagram or in plain text (standard version).

Repeater, Bridges and Gateways

Repeaters are used to set-up a physical connection between two or more segments of a Controller Area Network system. By using repeaters it is possible to set-up tree or star topologies as well as long drop lines. Furthermore, using a galvanic isolated repeater allows to electrically decouple network segments.
CAN bridges and CAN gateways are infrastructure components allowing to set-up complex network structures. CAN bridges are able to connect CAN networks with different protocols or baudrates. They are based on the Store-(Modify)-Forward principle, where CAN messages are received from one network segment and transmitted within the other network segment. At this, rules for message transformation and filtering can be used, allowing a protocol translation between the two network segments. A CAN bridge is able to provide simple gateway functionality.

Diagnosis Tools

CANcheck allows the test of CAN networks during commissioning, search for faults and maintenance. For this, the battery operated hand-held device is connected to the CAN network and operated by an easy to use menu.
The data logger "CANcorder MMC" allows the PC independent recording of CAN messages. By using the "teleControl" feature, the recorded messages can be uploaded very easily to the PC via Modem/GSM module.
The CAN-Bus-Tester (CBT2) enables physical testing of a Controller Area Network system. The device allows measurement of the signal-to-noise level and the edge duration of the CAN messages.
